Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer - A Review

I've had the new Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer for about 3 weeks now.  And I estimate that I've made more than 1000 cuts so far.  So, I'm ready to share my thoughts about it with you.  Plus, it will be available for order on November 1 and I want you to know what you are ordering!

Facts from Stampin' Up!

Paper Trimmer
Item: 152392 | $25.00 usd/$34.00 cad
  • 15-3/8 x 8 x 1/2” (39 x 20.3 x 1.3 cm)
  • Includes 1 cutting blade and 1 scoring blade.
  • Includes imperial and metric measurements.
  • Ruler and grid protected by durable plastic cover.
  • Point on cutting handle for precise measuring.
  • Right-side grid for cutting thin strips.

My observations:

1.  The Paper Trimmer is lighter and leaner than it's predecessor!

2.  It has an opening to hang it, if wanted.
3.  The blades are so much better!  You will be so impressed with the improvement in just the blades!
4.  The blade housings themselves are much easier to handle.
5.  The cutting guide snap locks into place, so no slide lock is needed.
6.  The extension arm is much easier to use!  There is no longer any gap; when extended, the arm creates a continuous surface.

7.  The extension arm is very sturdy and no longer needs a "foot" when it's extended.
8.  When the extension arm is closed, there is a ridge along the left side that measures 6".  It's great for holding small pieces of paper in place.
9.  The cuts are clean.  No shredded paper and no rough edges!  (Types of materials I've cut:
  • Heavy weight and "normal" weight whisper white and very vanilla card stock
  • Colored card stock
  • Foil sheets
  • Glimmer sheets
  • Mercury Acetate sheets
  • Designer Series Paper
  • Embossed papers
  • Note:  with the previous cutter, if I tried to trim a piece of card stock that I had embossed, the card stock usually tore.  This has not happened once with the new trimmer and I've done it many times.
10.  Use a light touch when cutting.  Using a heavy hand may leave a ridge on the edge of your paper.

Others have commented that they've been able to cut multiple sheets simultaneously.  I haven't tried that yet.

Refill blades will be available in January.  There will be 4 in a pack and they will sell for $12.00  I think that's a much more convenient size than the previous 2 pack!
