In The Pines - Be Merry

I'm such a traditional gal when it comes to Christmas.  I almost didn't share this card with you because of it's non-traditional colors.  But, the longer it sat on my desk, the more I like it.  So, I figured 'why not'?  Other people may also like the non-traditional colors with the traditional Christmas card!  This is one of the make & takes from the virtual training I participated in a few weeks ago.  Tell me what you think.  Yes or no?

My card base in Cinnamon Cider card stock.  The background pieces are attached to the card base with strips cut from the Foam Adhesive sheets.  I used an Adhesive Sheet adhered to a piece of Whisper White card stock before cutting out the intricate tree image.  Then I peeled the backing off the tree and layered the cut out image it a solid tree image.  The sentiment is from Banner Year and stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink.  The ends of the tag were created with the Banner Pick A Punch.  I adhered the tree and banner to the card front with Dimensionals.  I added a Stitched Star cut out of Brushed Metallic card stock and finished it off with a bow from the Basket Weave and Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack.  Finally, I sprinkled a few All The Trimmings Embellishments across the front to complete the card.

Everything Essential Halloween

The Everything Essential bundle is one of my favorite bundles in the fall mini catalog.  The stamp set includes 11 seasonal stamps.  And, there is a coordinating punch that makes the cutest tags quickly and easily!

To make my card, I first cut the oval from the center of my piece of Mango Melody card stock using the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I took the remaining piece of card stock and run it through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine with the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder.  I adhered it to a Basic Black card stock base and added a strip of Black Glitter Paper across the middle.  On a scrap of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the image from Everything Essential in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with the Mango Melody Stampin' Blends.  Then I punched out the image using the Essential Tag Punch.  I attached the tag to the stitched oval card stock piece with Dimensionals and attached the oval to the card base over the open space using additional Dimensionals.  Finally, I sprinkled some Iridescent Pearls on the card.

Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine

The new Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine will be available for customers to order beginning September 1.  It has been available for demonstrators to purchase and use since the beginning of August.  Mine was ordered on that first day and I've put it through the paces for the past few weeks.  I'll share my thoughts about the new machine, but first, let's take a look at it.

  • Features:
  • Durable machines with high-quality results. The solid steel construction frame and rubber feet that securely grip the work surface produce crisp, clean, precise cutting and beautifully detailed embossing.
  • Easy to use. The machines and tools are designed for an intuitive die-cutting and embossing experience. For example, all plates are labeled with a number and are color coded for easy reference and use when building your sandwich. And just like the name suggests, our Magnetic Cutting Plates have fully-magnetic surfaces to make it easy to securely position your dies and keep them in place.
  • Simple to store. The platforms on both machines fold for space-saving storage and they look pretty too–the sleek, clean design suits any crafting space.
  • Portable. You can use both machines at home or on the go with their folding platforms and ergonomic carrying handles.
  • Highlights:
  • Wide 6" (15.2 cm) platform for all your crafting needs.
  • Weighs approximately 8.1 pounds (3.67 kg). Platform folds to make transporting easy and to take up less space when storing.
  • Works with all Stampin’ Cut & Emboss dies and embossing folders.
  • Simple to make a sandwich. Includes plates that are labeled with a number and are color coded for easy use.
  • All the plates you need to get started are included: 1 Base Plate (Plate 1), 1 Die Plate (Plate 2), 2 Cutting Plates (Plate 3), and 1 Specialty Plate (Plate 4).

Also available beginning September 1:
  • Magnetic Cutting Plate

Thin, fully magnetic sheet with self-healing cutting surface. Magnetic Cutting Plate (Plate 5) holds dies securely in place, even nested dies. This slim, portable sheet replaces a Cutting Plate in your sandwich, making it even easier to take with you. Use with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

Are you still with me?  I hope so, because here are my thoughts:

So, first I want to say if you have a machine and it works well, by all means, continue to use it.

But, if you are in the market for a machine, this one should be considered.

I thought my 7 year old Big Shot worked just fine.  But I ordered the new Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine after thinking about it for a long time.  After all, my well-used Big Shot was showing signs of wear.

I love the sleek, compact design.  I love the numbered plates.  And I love having the sandwiches on the base plate.

But, what I like most of all is how easy it is to turn that handle!  It's so much less a struggle than my old machine.  You know how you have an old comfy pair of shoes and you finally break down and buy a new pair and they're so comfortable?  And at that moment you realize how much you "needed" them?  Well, that's how it felt after I used the new Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.  It's so easy to use.  I've missed not having a magnetic plate, but Stampin' Up! has announced that will be available on September 1 as well.

So, if your old machine is on it's last legs, or if you're in the market for a new machine, then I highly recommend the new Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine!

I will also offer a free shipping promotion when you order this machine through me September 1 - 7.  Check back next week for all the details!

Love of Leaves

I've turned the corner....it may be 80 or 90 outside, but it's fall in the craft room.  Today's card uses the Love of Leaves bundle.  And a project sheet with full measurements and instructions is included as a bonus.

I love, love, love the detail in the dies in this stamp set.  To be honest, this set wasn't high on my wish list when I first saw the catalog, but I'm so happy I got it.  The Project Sheet for this card is available by clicking the image above.

Beautiful Autumn

As usually happens this time of year, the hint of leaves starting to turn and the sight of pumpkin everything everywhere, I gravitate toward fall crafting.  I love making cards for fall and fall holidays.  So, it was to be expected that the Beautiful Autumn bundle was screaming at me to be used.

This bundle includes the stamp set and three stamps - 2 leaves and an acorn.  The Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze leaves and the acorns in my wreath were stamped from a scrap piece of patterned paper that matches the card base patterned paper.  The others were stamped on a scrap of Whisper White card stock and in Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, and Soft Suede and cut out with the same punches.

The wreath was built on a piece of Champagne Foil bordered with a piece of Early Espresso card stock.  The patterned paper base piece is also bordered with Early Espresso card stock.  The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Finally, a double piece of Linen Thread was tied in a bow and added with a mini glue dot.

The list of supplies used to create this project is below.  Click any of the pictures to go to my online store to place your order.
