Timeless Tulips Card Idea

Hello stampers!

Over the weekend I was looking through a stack of cards I haven't shared here with you and was so surprised to see this card there.

I think you already know I love to color with my Stampin' Blends and I love to watercolor with my Aqua Painters.  I think I sometimes lose sight of the Watercolor Pencils.  I used the pencils on this card and I love how it turned out!

I saw this technique demonstrated by Phoebe Borromeo-Carr, and even though my card looks nothing like hers, I love the depth and definition in the tulips created by the Watercolor Pencils.  I stamped the tulips in Grapefruit Grove and blended and shaded them with the following colors from the original Watercolor Pencil set:  Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, and Pumpkin Pie.  For the stems and leaves, I stamped them in Granny Apple Green and colored and shaded with Bermuda Bay and Old Olive.  I must remember to use those pencils more often!

And I finished off the card with another little "trick" I'd forgotten.  I used a Basic Gray Stampin' Write Marker to "flick" ink droplets on the front of the card.  As a reminder, to do this, flick the brush end of your maker against the inside of the cap flicking outward toward your card stock.
